Knowing Your Purpose

Someone told me that I couldn’t always put my career first because I’d end up missing out on other things such as having children or marriage.  Yes, I would love to get married and have children one day but how can I be there for my kids or my husband if I haven’t capitalized on what my real purpose on earth is yet?  Sure, I could settle for mediocrity and find a job that I’m qualified for and have a family but what would be my legacy when I’m gone?  What would I leave my children and how can I ensure their financial naomistability in my absence?  There’s nothing wrong with people who work hard on any job, as long as you’re happy BUT!  I cannot and will not settle for mediocrity when I know I’m capable of much more.  As a woman, it is important to establish an identity of your own.  Think outside the box, recognize your talents and gifts and put them to use.  God did not put us here to just take up space.  We all have a higher purpose and finding it won’t always come easy.  You have to be willing to work, sacrifice, and have a great deal of patience in order to receive the blessings that have been set aside for you.  I want my children to know the meaning of hard work and sacrifice.  I want them to know that they do not have to ever settle for anything below greatness.  So yes, I will ALWAYS put myself and my career first (after God), and when/if I have children, I’ll be well prepared to handle the responsibility, even if I have to handle it all on my own.

For women out there with children already, it is never too late to start building your empire.  Dream big!  There isn’t anything you can’t do.  I never thought I’d get the opportunity to act in a movie alongside big name actors.  I never thought I would dance on a stage with high profile celebrities and I never knew I would own a clothing line or be starting this movement for women!  I’ve done all of these things because I ignored the haters and naysayers and I believed enough in myself to make things happen.  I don’t care what color you are, where you’re from, what you did in the past or what your current circumstances are, you can do anything you want to do if only you believe in yourself.  That sounds cliche and probably seems easier said than done but it can be done.  Stop making excuses and just do it!
